Chris has over 30 years experience in the world of valuations and auctioneering. For the last 14 years he was a Senior Valuer for Bonhams Auctioneers based in Chester and covering the whole of the North West of England and Wales. Chris was involved in some of their biggest valuations and sales in recent times, he also ran the clock sales when the saleroom was still open in Chester, and conducted jewelry valuations and sourced some beautiful and highly valuable pieces for London sales, increasing the values from under £100,00 year to over £1m. Chris was also active in Bonhams Classic Car and Motorcycle departments, taking hugely successful sales as auctioneer at the Staffordshire Motorcycle auctions and in their Bond Street and Montpelier salerooms. Prior to this Chris ran several regional saleroom both in the South of England and in the Midlands. He ran an antique restoration company for many years prior to his involvement in the auction world and has published a best selling book on the subject Restoring & Repairing Furniture (Step-by-Step) ISBN-10 ? : ? 1861602839. Outside of auctions Chris is The Chairman of The Oxton Society, a local Conservation Society, and owns and runs a community radio station in Birkenhead called Vintage Radio.

Sean is originally from Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. He began his career as an apprentice diesel mechanic with Dublin Bus. And soon Sean went on to purchase his own tour buses and built one of the largest incoming coach tour operations in Ireland. Sean and his wife relocated to New Brighton, where they opened a number of antique and vintage furniture shops, along with a house clearance business. Sean overseas the day to day business of the saleroom as well as being point of contact for House Clearances.

Peter William worked for Sotheby’s in London and New York as a ceramics cataloguer, valuer and deputy director for twelve years before moving to Sotheby’s Chester saleroom as Director of the Ceramics Department. He later opened and ran his own successful fine art and antiques saleroom at Booth Mansion in Chester for five years. He has subsequently been engaged as a consultant for Bonhams auctioneers for over a decade. A member of the English Ceramics Circle, and a former trustee of the Spode Museum, PW is a respected specialist consultant, author, appraiser and lecturer on all aspects of early pottery and porcelain.

Militaria Expert

As well as his expertise in militaria Richmond is a notable Horticultural expert playing a key part in the development and sustainability of plant life in many parts of the world including Diego Garcia and the Seychelles. In the year of the Gulf war (1989), Richmond was asked by Green Peace to preserve the conservation of an island homed by Turtles. He has also contributed to many local community garden projects in Merseyside, England. Dr Richmond Dutton had a book published called ' Land Reclamation in Cities'. Richmonds’ militaria knowledge is vast and much respected and sought after so we are thrilled that he has agreed to represent HSA as our militaria expert with responsibility for 2 annual sales.
